Rise & Shine is located in Katwoude, a tiny village just 15 minutes away from the Amsterdam centre. It is located in an old farmers house which is charmingly skew. Behind the house is the old cow- stable, which was rebuild and where the owners live nowadays. Situated at a dead end road, Rise & Shine is just surrounded by other farms and meadows with far views, Dutch cows and loads of Dutch light coming in the house. As a guest, you have your own outside space where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful view.Rise & Shine is the perfect spot for short stays in the Amsterdam areas, without having to sleep in the hectic of the city and close to charming old Dutch villages. And if you want to visit Amsterdam the bus stops 1 minute from the holiday house so you can hop on and within 15 minutes you are in the centre of Amsterdam. We also allow people to stay for longer periods with a maximum of 3 months.
We offer free wifi, free coffee/tea, (alcoholic)drinks to purchase at good prices. We have children’s furniture & toys. Pets also welcome.
Also, it is possible to rent a bike so you can discover the surroundings the Dutch way.
Neighbourhood/Location
Rise & Shine is located in Katwoude, in the region ‘Waterland’. It is right beside the famous lake ‘IJsselmeer’, where watersports flourish. The area is perfect for walking, cycling, canoeing, rowing or fishing. and in winter: skating!Katwoude lies just between Monnickendam and Volendam, and has its own windmill, not far from our house. Volendam is world-famous for its dikes, traditional costumes and old dikehouses. You can sail from the port of Volendam with the boat to Marken and walk around on this splendid historical Dutch island. Edam is just another mile away, with it’s worldfamous cheese market.
Monnickendam has a large recreation area at the lake ‘IJsselmeer’, where you can walk, swim or hire a boat.
In the whole area, you find a great choice of museums as well as lots of other entertainment for the whole family.
Amsterdam is situated at only 15 km distance. You can visit the museums, get lost in the Amsterdam nightlife, its numerous cultural activities or explore the city by bicycle or water bicycle.
If you don’t want to use a car, a busstop is just one minute walk away from out house, with busses going 6 times an hour, bringing you to the heart of Amsterdam within 15 minutes. The buses run during weekdays 6 times an hour from early morning till
around 1 at night . In the weekend, the buses also ride throughout the night!
Living Area
Rise & Shine is a completely furnished house; it has it own entrance and hall, two lovely and light rooms and a kitchen with enough space to cook and eat.It is both possible to rent the whole house, as well as to stay in one of the rooms.
The house contains 2 bedrooms on the groundfloor.
Room 1 is a very spacious room, with direct meadow view, wooden floors, a big bed for 2, cupboard, couch and dining table.
Room 2 is smaller but very cosy, has a lovely light coming in during the day, a bed for 2, a small dining table and a cupboard.
Upstairs in the house, we are busy decorating more rooms; so if you want to come with more people than 4; let us know, we can make a plan!
