We have just returned from 5 days in Amsterdam staying in apartment ID412 The Snug.
I would like to take this opportunity to say how much we both enjoyed this secret hide away in the middle of all the main attractions.
The location of this property was excellent. One bridge away from red light area, 3 bridges away from Dam Square.
20min walk to Ann Frank house and the market. Just fantastic.
As for the booking process through amsterdamstay.com was brilliant. The property owner facilitated our early morning arrival.
We were met by Geeter who was very friendly and offered us lots of information on Amsterdam, however as we are seasonal visitors to Amsterdam we did not need much direction.
What I appreciated the most was the simplicity of the whole transaction. It was straight forward and direct which was brilliant.
We have use other website to make bookings, but none compare to the efficacy of using this website. We will be booking our visit to Amsterdam through it next year and from hear on in.
The property was like a secret hide away. It was so quite even though we were in a busy area.
The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a nice surprise. The bed was massive with the mattress being one of the best I have slept on. I highly recommend this apartment.

I would like to let you know what a wonderful apartment we stayed in.
As well as the obvious musts - Clean, good bathroom and toilet with comfortable beds, I think that you could tell that it was an artist place.
Well decorated with great art on the wall. A big plus was a great coffee machine one button and the beans are turned into a beautifully coffee a great way to start the day! So much more than staying in a hotel, Articaatje's Place was a great place that I want to recommend!
This was even amplified when my bank thought it would be a great help If they put a hold on my card because I was abroad, meaning when we arrived Carla was patient and waited a day for my card to be re-activated and then we paid on day two.
Not sure hotels can be so understandable. Carla made us very welcomed and showed us around and always happy to give tips on places to go.
With the trams around the corner the centre and museums where not far away and if you are like me and want to sit and have a drink/meal with locals this is a good place to start.

“I recently rented this apartment while in Amsterdam for a week and had the most enjoyable experience.
It is a great home with plenty of room, comfortable amenities and a balcony where you can read or enjoy breakfast.
The owners were there to greet me when I arrived. They showed me around the apartment, made sure I knew how everything worked and gave me directions for the nearest street market and grocery store.
They also left me a bike along with the necessary locks. What a treat that was! I got to travel through Amsterdam as a “temporary local”.
This apartment is located in a great neighborhood with local cafes and restaurants and with easy access to the busy parts of the city.
I highly recommend it and would stay there again.”

It is spacious, well furnished, comfortable and extremely well located right in the heart of Amsterdam, close to Dam Square. The large terrace, furnished with a good sized table and benches is ideal for whiling away an hour or two if the weather is good. In addition the owners provide access to Sky+ with the full range of British satellite channels and free fast-broadband access by means of pre-paid USB attachments. ''Hi Wendy, Overall, we were pleased with the apartment. The views were great, the location was great and the owner was very friendly and flexible. It was very helpful to have him arrange for a baby cot in the apartment, which allowed us to leave ours at home (I would suggest he put this in the advertisement as it is appealing to families). Two areas of feedback....one is that there was no microwave. The ad says "fully equipped kitchen" so we brought food for our 2 year old son, most of which needs to be warmed up in the microwave...that was very disappointing. Second is the stove was extremely hard to figure out how to turn out...eventually we did, but I would suggest he leave instructions on how to use. Hope you find that helpful. Thanks, Brian

The stay was really good. I think that's the 9th time I've been to Amsterdam and it was easily the best accomodation I've been in.
It made such a difference not to be in a hotel and is definetly the way forward. It was in a very good area, not too far from the centre, but far enough to be quiet.
The house was beautiful as was the surrounding area. Amsterdam is a lovely looking city and if I could I'd live there.
Whilst we got stuck for an extra night, the fact that you were able to get us in for an extra one was really helpful too. The snow may have been a pain, but it also made everything look so much more wonderful and it really was a delightful trip.
Right from the outset the service we recieved from you was absolutely first class, right through to accomodating us at the last minute with the weather difficulties.
I would not hesitate to recommend you to anybody wanting to stay in Amsterdam, in fact I think they'd be hard pressed to do better. You made the whole thing so easy, you dealt with any problems (finding a suitable property and available at fairly short notice, not to mention Moneybookers!!) promptly and made the whole thing stress free and hugely enjoyable.
I'm glad I found you and will certainly book with you again the next time I come to Amsterdam.

It was our first trip there but it surely won't be our last. In fact we have looked at flights for June and we would like to return for a week stay from Tues June 16th to Tues 23rd 2009, with another eager couple in tow. If possible we would like to make a reservation for the same apartment, Old Masters Apartment on Weteringstraat, for those dates. It was a beautiful space to spend time in and come back to after hours of walking. I hope we left it exactly as we had found it and I apologise again that we didn't have time to empty the dishwasher! ''Dear Wendy, I just wanted to write and let you know that my stay in Amsterdam was just wonderful.
The apartment (the Secret Garden) was perfect and so centrally located. I use a walker and it was so convenient for me and I was able to access everything.
The Neiumarket area was a lot of fun and we had everything we needed close by.
Laura was very helpful and delightful. She got us a couple of things we needed (hairdryer and coffeemaker) right away and also gave us information on sights.
We visited many museums, went to the Keukenhof Gardens and had so much fun exploring.

''Hi Wendy / Amsterdam Stay Yes it was fine and we enjoyed our stay. The place was a little more basic than we thought from the photos, but that’s not a problem. One of the lights in the front room was missing with just wires hanging down from the ceiling - that didn’t look very good. A couple of thoughts – if you put a few more things in the kitchen it would be better – some tea-towels to wipe plates and some washing-up liquid and brushes. If we had had the washing-up liquid we would have done the dishes before we left, so it might be better for everybody! But all in all we enjoyed our stay, thank-you! Regards Richard

''Let me tell you about my stay at Secret Garden.
I emailed the owner with arrival info and she told me (& I still have the email) that we could check in at noon on the day of our arrival (Tuesday) and she would hold our luggage until check in time.
We arrived exhausted, left our luggage with her, and she told us it would now be 1pm before we could check in. We were unhappy with the change and came back at 12:45 and she insisted we wait outside the apartment until 1pm.
Then we paid her in cash. She said we owed her more than 919.90 Euros. We said the amount was correct but she said we were mistaken. Luckily, we had a printout and she accepted the correct amount.
We finally got into the apartment and it was missing the promised computer. I told her because of my job, I had to be available by email and that we would not have booked the apartment without a computer.
In the end, she took 50 Euros off the rental rate but that did not really help me because that meant I had to go to internet cafes to check my email multiple times each day. We did let her know that we were still unhappy and that we wanted a computer as was listed on your site for this apartment.
She said she would bring a coffee maker (& she would try to get a laptop computer) and would come back that night (Tuesday) at 6pm.
We did not see her again until Saturday at 9am when she woke us up when she brought a coffee maker. There was no mention of the laptop again.
Then we saw her again on Monday at 9am. She woke us up to see when we were leaving. It took me awhile to realize she thought we were leaving that day. I told her our flight was on Tuesday and she asked were we were staying Monday night. I said the apartment was rented until Tuesday and she said we were mistaken. I again produced my paperwork and she left.
The apartment was large and seemed like a really nice apartment, in a good location, that had not been kept up at all. I think if the promised computer had been provided that night, if she had not tried to get extra money from us, and if she had not tried to throw us out a day early, we would have perhaps enjoyed our stay. Running back and forth to internet cafes was not fun and we hate to think what would have happened if we had not had our printout of the agreement.
For the last four years we have gone to Amsterdam and this was the worst experience we have ever had. We will be posting reviews of our stay.

Sorry to hear Fedora messed you around. She is not the easiest person to deal with, sometimes being disorganised and a bit scatterbrained.
We have been renting her apartment for a few years now and have only received one complaint in all that time (the internet was not working for one guest). We fixed this by providing a USB stick within a few minutes of being contacted by the guest.
We are problem solvers and we go out of our way to help our clients. All you had to do was contact us on a visit to the internet cafe and all would have been sorted by us.
Our live chat and phone lines are manned 18 hours a day or even an e-mail would have gotten a reply within a few minutes.((You did mail us the day before leaving on your trip).
Any of theses methods of contact and all your problems listed below would have been avoided.
Our office is less than 5 minutes walk from the apartment and we could have provided a computer for your stay and informed/reminded Fedora of your departure dates and amount owned.
Fedora is on the phone to us all the time, asking for arrival times, amount owned by guests and other questions as she seems never to receive or to lose the mails she gets from us with the full booking details of each reservation which includes arrival time and departure date and amount due to be paid.
We are very proud of the service we provide and receive endless praise from our clients as we bend over backwards to help guests in all sorts of ways, during their stays.
Sorry we could not do the same on this occasion. Hope this has not put you off booking with us again.
