Cheap accommodation in Amsterdam city centre
Amsterdam, with its 16+ million staying tourists and many millions more "day" tourists Amsterdam is one of the most visited cities on the planet. Amsterdam is small, very small but still manages to accommodate a huge amount of accommodation types to suit every budget from a simple Hostel bed to a Penthouse.
Rates on average are around Euro 30 for a hostel bed, Euro 70-100 for the average hotel room, Euro 200 a night for an apartment/vacation rental.
Most tourists on a short stay want to be around all the action so around Central station (Centrum) has a huge concentration of cheap budget hotels, mostly walk-ups (no lifts) and many of the hostels are located around this area also.
if you do not fancy the noisy centre then other areas which have a cheap place to stay include De Pijp, Amsterdam's Latin Quarter which has a selection of inexpensive lodging.
